IBM Analytics Workshop

On May 22-23, 2012, Seidenberg Institute of Computing Innovation and IBM collaborated in delivering a two-day analytics workshop for Pace University faculty in room 300 of Goldstein Academic Building, Pleasantville campus. In the afternoon of May 22, Mr. Brian Snyder, IBM Cognos solution specialist, introduced Cognos with handson labs through Cognos instances deployed on IBM cloud servers. In the morning of May 23, Mr. John Norton, IBM SPSS solutions architect, delivered a comprehensive lecture on SPSS modeler and data mining with handson labs on a Windows XP virtual machine preinstalled for each attendee. Over 20 Pace university faculty and staff from Seidenberg, Dyson, Lubin, Library, and other university units attended the workshop. This workshop is a major step in introducing the latest analytics methodologies and technologies into Pace curricula.

We'd like to thank Mr. Robert Bry, IBM Academic Initiative representative for Pace University, for helping organize this workshop and working with us during the two-day workshop. We thank Mr. Brian Snyder and Mr. Mr. John Norton for traveling long distance to deliver the well-designed lectures. We also thank Mr. Thomas Reivik for helping us set up the SPSS virtual machines and arrange the recording of the Cognos workshop.

The following are IBM resources related to this workshop in particular and analytics in general. We hope they would be useful for you.
