HOT DAY (Hands on Technology)
An Information Technology Event for High School Students and Their Parents
Pace University, Pleasantville, NY
Saturday April 5, 2014, 9:00am – 1:00 pm
*** Even is absolutely FREE. Pre-registration is required as space is limited.
Students can sign up for three sessions – choosing from:

  • MIT App Inventor: Develop your first Android App with us in 45 minutes, and understand the main principles behind the latest computing technologies including cloud and mobile computing.
  • Introduction to Robotics with LEGO Mindstorms: In groups of twos, participants will program a working robot, attach sensors, and experiment with both mechanics and programming.
  • Revealing the Secret Messages – A Cybersecurity Game: A hands-on game that illustrates the concept of encryption for secure communications.
  • Game Programming: Students will use games to get an introduction to Java programming.
  • Interactive Telemedicine: using bluetooth devices for remote patient monitoring; students will learn the future of healthcare using the latest technology for the next trillion dollar industry!

The event ends with a talk by the lead researcher of IBM's Watson project that was featured on Jeopardy!
